We are monitoring the Forum on Patronage and Pluralism in the Primary Sector which will provide a report on how to achieve transformation of patronage (to provide for a change from Catholic to Multi-Denominational schools). This report is due this December. The Advisory Group which runs the Forum will host a public session on 17 November, at which the Chairperson (Prof John Coolahan) will make an oral presentation of the Group’s reflections and draft policy options. The 17 November session will take place in the Clock Tower, Department of Education and Skills, Marlborough Street, Dublin 1. Interested members of our network are invited to apply by Friday 28 October.

More information about the Forum is available at http://www.education.ie/home/home.jsp?pcategory=10856&ecategory=56743&language=EN

The application form is included below and should be emailed to patronageforum@education.gov.ie.

We are urging as many members of the Portobello group as possible to attend and make our voices heard at the Forum, which will give priority to members of groups that have already made a submission. Our submission is accessible at:

http://www.education.ie/servlet/blobservlet/fpp_sub_portobello_educate_together.pdf

This is a critical opportunity to influence the outcome of this important Report which will provide a blueprint for the process of transformation of schools.
